Aapki Pooja Founder Success Story: Pooja Jain of Indore
Pooja Jain: From Indore to the Helm of an Iconic Indian Brand
Roots in Indore
Hailing from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Pooja Jain grew up under the inspiring influence of her father, D.K. Jain, founder of Luxor—a stationery company that began with a modest ₹5,000 in 1963 and now brings in over ₹500 crore annually. A pivotal moment came during a school trip to a stationery fair in Japan with her father. That experience ignited in her a passion for the family business and a deep respect for the brand’s legacy.
Education & Early Exposure
Pooja built her leadership credentials through rigorous academic and real-world training. She earned degrees from the London School of Economics and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade—well-preparing her for leadership at Luxor. Despite not initially planning to join the company, she embraced the challenge when the time came.
Rising Through the Ranks
Her father imparted a crucial lesson: no special treatment. Pooja began with real responsibility—eventually earning the title of Managing Director for the writing instruments division. She says:
“I was working when my friends were going out for lunch and parties. But I don’t regret it because I think of what I gained and the value it added to my life.”
Stepping Up
Following her father’s passing in 2014, Pooja transitioned to executive director of Luxor Group. In this role, she assumed full leadership of the pen and accessories ranges and spearheaded the company’s diversification into FMCG—most notably the Luxor Nano Clean brand, with aspirations to reach ₹100 crore revenue in this segment.
Vision & Ambition
Pooja is known for her tireless work ethic—managing operations at all hours. Her bold objectives include growing Luxor’s writing instruments revenue from ₹520 crore to ₹2,000 crore in just three years, and expanding both national retail footprints and export operations. She also nurtures a consumer-first mentality:
“I always put myself in the shoes of our consumer every single day, to ensure that whatever we do must exceed their expectations.”
Leadership Philosophy
Her management principles center on perseverance, humility, and collective success. As she puts it:
“Humility is the key aspect of life. It is WE that matters the most, not I, if you want to win the game.”.
She draws unwavering inspiration from her father’s vision and leads with a multi-tasking mastery, positive attitude, and continuous innovation.
What Makes Her Story Inspiring
Legacy with Vision: She embraced the business built by her father but made it her own through innovation and modern strategy.
Resilience in Transition: She stepped up after her father’s passing, taking bold ownership during challenging times.
Ambitious with Purpose: From stationery to FMCG, she is boldly expanding the Luxor brand.
Work Ethic & Values: Long hours, humility, empathy, and unwavering consumer focus define her leadership.
The Path Ahead
Today, Pooja continues to steer Luxor into new territories—exploring real estate, hospitality, FMCG, and exporting. Her singular goal: transform a beloved family brand into an institutional powerhouse. Her story from Indore to boardrooms across India and beyond is a testament to perseverance, vision, and heart.
